Chalco Hills Recreation Area is this area’s premier outdoor recreation facility. Here, you can try your luck at fishing, relaxing at a picnic table, bike, hike, or jog on more than 7 miles or trials. This area is open 7 days a week and is perfect for birthday parties, company events, or just a peaceful day out in nature.
Fort Atkinson was the first United States Army post to be established west of the Mississippi River and played a major role in the western expansion and fur trade. This site is home to the “First Council Sculpture”, which was where Lewis and Clark and the Otoe-Missouri tribe met! You can take a pre-arranged tour from mid-April thru mid-November.
